Getting there

Potsdam is located southwest of the German capital of Berlin and can be easily reached by various means of transport. Potsdam and Berlin are adjacent cities and have a coordinated metropolitan public transport system (Verkehrsverbund Berlin Brandenburg / VBB). Tickets for zones “Berlin ABC” are valid in both cities. The campus Neues Palais is located close to the small railway station Potsdam Park Sanssouci. There you have direct connections to Berlin, Frankfurt (Oder), and Brandenburg (RE1, once per hour), to Potsdam Hauptbahnhof, Golm, and Wustermark/Berlin Spandau (RE21, once per hour), and to Potsdam Hauptbahnhof, Golm, and Oranienburg (RE20, every two hours on weekdays).

The “Berlin ABC” ticket is valid also in all buses, trams and local trains in Berlin and Potsdam.

From Berlin to Potsdam with the regional train or S-Bahn

From the central train station Potsdam (Hbf.) to the Conference Venue (Neues Palais)

Buses 695, 605, 606 take you to the University Campus:

  • Bus 695 (in the direction Bahnhof Pirschheide) from Potsdam Hauptbahnhof to the stop „Potsdam, Campus Universität/Lindenallee“.
  • Bus 605 (towards Potsdam, Wissenschaftspark Golm), from Potsdam Hauptbahnhof to the stop „Potsdam, Neues Palais“ or „Potsdam, Campus Universität/Lindenallee“.
  • Bus 606 (towards Potsdam Alt-Golm), from Potsdam Hauptbahnhof to the stop „Potsdam Neues Palais“ or „Potsdam, Campus Universität/Lindenallee“.

By plane

Berlin has two airports:

  • Tegel (TXL)
  • Schönefeld (SXF)

You can take a taxi from Airport Berlin-Tegel to the Conference Venue in Potsdam. It will cost approximately 60,00 EUR. You can also use public transport. Here you can find more information on your route from Berlin to Potsdam ( The fare from Berlin to Potsdam costs 3.40 EUR for a one-way-ticket and 770 EUR for a daily ticket ( You should buy the Berlin ABC-Ticket. From the airports to the Berlin (Potsdam) trains

Tegel Airport (TXL): Bus X9 or 109 will take you to the railway station “Zoologischer Garten”. From there you take the S7 to Potsdam Hauptbahnhof.

There is a direct train connection RB 22 (Mon – Fri hourly, Sat/Sun every two hours) between Schönefeld Airport (SXF) and Potsdam Hauptbahnhof.

Alternatively, you can also take the city train S-Bahn S45 in the direction of S+U Bundesplatz (Berlin) to S-Schöneberg. After that, take the S-Bahn 1 in the direction S Wannsee Bhf (Berlin) to last stop on the line. There you have to change to S-Bahn S7 in the direction of Potsdam Hauptbahnhof. Public Transport
You can take regional train RB 21 (every 60 min.), ‘S-Bahn’ (every 20 min.), or bus 694 (roughly every 20 min.) to Potsdam main station. Regional trains and S-Bahn also connect the Campus with Berlin. Train and bus stations are located in the Prof. Dr. Helmert road, opposite to the Campus.

You find the Registration desk in the Foyer. It is open from Monday to Friday. Conference fees and additional bookings at the registration desk can be paid in cash.
